Group 1 — 180 Days (United States & Canada)

Citizens of the United States and Canada are granted a maximum stay of 180 calendar days per visit, per Resolution 22706 issued by the Servicio Nacional de Migración (SNM) on September 10, 2021, citing reciprocity. This is strictly enforced — overstays can result in fines and re-entry bans. The stay is per-visit and does not reset on a rolling-window basis.

Group 2 — 90 Days (EU + ~80 Countries)

Citizens of all EU member states, EEA countries, and approximately 80 additional countries including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and many others receive a maximum stay of 90 calendar days per visit, per Resolution 22068 (September 1, 2021). Each new entry grants a fresh 90-day stay.

Group 3 — 30 Days (Hong Kong)

Hong Kong passport holders are granted a maximum stay of 30 calendar days per visit under a separate bilateral agreement.

Third-Country Visa Exemption (30 Days)

Nationals of visa-required countries who hold a valid multi-entry visa (used at least once for entry) or permanent residency issued by Australia, Canada, the EU, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, or the United States may enter Panama visa-free for up to 30 days under Executive Decree 521.

Visa Required

Citizens of countries not listed in any exempt group must obtain a tourist visa from the nearest Panamanian embassy or consulate before travel. Visit the Embassy of Panama for the full list and application procedures.
